World of Outlaws, “Salute to the King” Tour Tackle River Cities on June 20

Fans,
Fans,

Inside Line Promotions – GRAND FORKS, N.D. – There aren’t many race tracks in the country that showcase side-by-side, electrifying racing like River Cities Speedway.

The bullring is set to host the first of two World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series races on Friday, June 20, which also marks the first chance for River Cities Speedway spectators to be a part of the “Salute to the King” tour honoring 20-time series champion Steve Kinser as he chases the title for one final season.

“It’s got to be one of the raciest short tracks,” Kinser said. “I’ve seen times it has had a bottom, middle and top groove. It has a nice high line.”

Kinser is one of seven drivers to record a World of Outlaws feature victory at River Cities Speedway and he joins North Dakota native Donny Schatz, Craig Dollansky and Joey Saldana as the only competitors to capture multiple wins.

“Any race track that opens up and gets wide enough where you can get two grooves and race is great,” Kinser said.

Kinser and Schatz put on one of the most memorable races in 2011 when there were 10 official lead changes, including six in the final eight laps. Kinser edged Schatz by a little more than one tenth of a second for the thrilling triumph.

“It makes it special when you have a race like that,” Kinser said. “Any time you have that good of a race, even if you run second, it’s a lot of fun.”
