World of Outlaws Invade Wilmot Raceway on June 2 for the Badger 40

WILMOT, WI — May 24, 2018 — The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will visit Wilmot Raceway in Wisconsin again this season on Saturday, June 2. This year’s edition of the Badger 40 will mark the sixth overall event for the Outlaws at the track, which is located at the Kenosha County Fairgrounds.

David Gravel has won each of the last three World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series events at Wilmot Raceway. He won for the first time at the facility in 2014, then followed that up with victories in 2016 and 2017. Gravel has a pair of wins thus far in 2018 and is third in points. Daryn Pittman, the 2013 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, won at Wilmot Raceway in 2008, after nearly picking up a win in the inaugural Outlaws race at the track in 2006. The veteran driver has three wins already this year and is tied for fourth in the series standings.

Wilmot Raceway is one of the few tracks on the schedule where nine-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz has never won at. The North Dakota native has finished in the top-10 in all six previous races for the Outlaws at the track and has a pair of runner-up finishes. Schatz leads the series with eight wins this season and is on top of the point standings.

Brad Sweet, who is second in points, has a strong track record at Wilmot Raceway. The Californian has led laps at the track and has finished fourth or better in all three of his appearances at Wilmot. Shane Stewart, who won in the state of Wisconsin last year at Beaver Dam Raceway, finished second at Wilmot in 2017.

The driver of the No. 2 machine for Kyle Larson Racing is chasing his first win of the season. Also in action at Wilmot will be veteran drivers Jason Johnson, Kraig Kinser, Jason Sides and Greg Wilson. Sheldon Haudenschild, who is having a breakout season, with three wins already to his credit, has competed in the past at Wilmot with both the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

Back on the road again this season are young drivers Logan Schuchart and Jacob Allen from Pennsylvania as well Clyde Knipp from Missouri. Allen was battling for the lead at Wilmot in 2016, in the early stages of the race, before a spin sent to the rear of the field, with him charging back through to finish just outside of the top-10.

Ian Madsen, who is in his first full year on the road with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, will be making his first start since 2014 at Wilmot. A number of drivers who compete with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Car Series will also be in action, including current point leader Scotty Thiel.

Multi-time series champion Bill Balog, who beat the World of Outlaws at Beaver Dam Raceway in 2016, is also tentatively scheduled to compete. Other IRA front-runners, who are expected are past champion Jeremy Schultz and Matt Vandervere, who won with the series at Wilmot earlier this season.

Tickets for the Badger 40, featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Wilmot Raceway on Saturday, June 2 can be purchased in advance online at https://slspromotions.ticketforce.com and at the track on race day.
