TRI STATE TUSSLE: McMahan and CJB Close in on Second in Points

Fans,
Fans,

TELFORD, PA. – September 24, 2014 – With only nine races remaining, the pressure to preform is higher than it has been all season.

“You really begin to feel the season wind down once we get back from the second west coast trip,” said McMahan, who sits 76 points behind Daryn Pittman for second in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series points standings. “It’s a long season but the end of it kind of sneaks up on you. Before you know it, it’s almost over and you’re still gunning to get some wins and possibly try a few things for the following year.”

The #51 Bairs Tree Service/Nyce Crete & Landis Block & Concrete/All Star Performance machine continued on as it took to the wide and fast surface of Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track on Wednesday, September 17th. It marked the first time since 2006 that the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt,’ had visited the track.

“It was fun to race at Terre Haute again,” commented McMahan. “Time trials were key and we weren’t our usual selves. The cool thing is that our CJB team is strong enough to battle back when we get behind a bit. That’s what we did at Terre Haute. We slipped a bit in the feature but had a good run nevertheless”

The trek east begin as Eldora Speedway was next up on the list for the traveling circus. A Friday night event during the prestigious Four Crown Weekend gave McMahan and the #51 team one last crack at the legendary half-mile in 2014.

“Eldora is one of those very special race tracks we go to each year,” explained McMahan. “We’ve had a ton of speed there the past years but haven’t been able to get a win there. We ran well again but came up short again.”

Rounding out the three state trek was the second stop of the season at Lernerville Speedway near Sarver, Pa.

“I feel like Lernerville was a very good race for us,” said McMahan. “I ran one of my first races with CJB at the Commonwealth Clash in 2012 and we had success there then. Third was a finish we needed to keep after Daryn (Pittman) in the points.”

A weekend duel at Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway and Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich. will close out the month of September as McMahan and CJB look to continue their success.

“Bloomington is a tight bullring and will be a lot of fun to race,” noted the California native. “Berlin is a bit of a mystery for us but Barry and the CJB crew are among the absolute best in the pit area so I am sure we’ll figure out the setup quickly. We want to end the year on a high note and moving up in the points standings is a goal of ours. We hope we can make it happen.”
