TOP-5 FINISHES UP NORTH: CJB Quick at River Cities and Nodak

Fans,
Fans,

TELFORD, PA. – August 20, 2014 – Momentum is key in any sport.

Paul McMahan and his CJB Motorsports team have been among the most consistent on the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series tour in 2014. That in of itself adds confidence and momentum to a team on the rise.

“It’s always great to pick up top-5’s, ” said McMahan, who has 57 top-10’s so far this season. “That’s what honestly wins championships. Being consistent and having momentum. We’ve been lucky enough to have both this season..”

The #51 Bairs Tree Service/Nyce Crete & Landis Block & Concrete/All Star Performance began the trek to the west coast with a pair of stops in North Dakota. Up first was the racy bullring known as River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D.

“Grand Forks is a great little track with the high banks and short straightaways,” commented the Nashville, Tenn. resident. “We timed in a little slower than usual and almost won our heat race which would have put us in the dash. We didn’t make it to we had to start 11th and charge forward. The track was pretty racy which helped us get to fifth.”

Following River Cities was a 210 mile journey across US Highway 2 for a visit to Nodak Speedway in Minot.

“We set quick time at Nodak,” explained McMahan. “That was a great start to the night but we never seemed to be able to move up from fourth in the finishing order or anything. I did have third and lost the spot on a late restart. I can’t complain too much though. Nodak is a great facility with great fans. It’s fun race every year.”

The team now heads to Canada for the second time in 2014. The annual Oil City Cup is held in Edmonton, Alb. At Castrol Raceway. McMahan finished 4th and 7th in last years doubleheader.

“I actually enjoy the second Candaian trip quite a bit,” said McMahan. “The drive to and from Edmonton is beautiful and the fans are very appreciative that we are there. The track is very nice actually and we’ve come close to a win. I think we can really set ourselves up well for the second west coast swing with a strong weekend up north.”
