The Outlaws Roll Through June and Prepare for the Month of Money

The FVP Outlaws at Cedar Lake at Cedar Lake Speedway kicks off the Month of Money this weekend

CONCORD, N.C. – July 5, 2016 – Chad Kemenah kicked off the month of June for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, winning in convincing fashion at Fremont (Ohio) Speedway but the big story of the month though was Donny Schatz coming into his own and taking over the championship points lead from Brad Sweet.

After coming close to winning twice at Eldora Speedway in May, Kemenah cruised to victory in front of family in friends at Fremont.

“That was a hell of a show for the fans,” Kemenah said after exiting his car. “I don’t know how close it was there at the end, but I am pretty sure the fans were in the cockpit there with me. We were the first ones to the checkered flag tonight, and my wife and kids were here to watch it, so this is cool.”

Joining Kemenah among the drivers who are not series regulars winning features in June were Terry McCarl, who scored on night one at Knoxville, and the ‘North Pole Nightmare’ Bill Balog at Beaver Dam.

Balog, who scored his first ever series win held off the polesitter Daryn Pittman to park it on the frontstretch.

“Maybe they didn’t think we could do it,” Balog said. “But we did it and it’s an awesome, awesome night.”

After running behind Sweet most of the season, Schatz pulled in front, the first driver not named Sweet to lead the points all season, after wins at Lincoln Park Speedway, Knoxville Raceway, River Cities Speedway and Rockford Speedway.

In front of a hometime crowd, Schatz scored his third win of the month at River Cities.

“This is what racing is all about – having your family here is cool – to be here and see it and experience it with us,” an emotional Schatz said. “The fans are just as important too, so I am glad to see everyone here tonight and glad they stuck it out. It turned out to be a great night for us and I am happy to be here and look forward to Sunday.”

Shane Stewart had a fruitful month, adding two wins to his total, while David Gravel, Joey Saldana and Daryn Pittman each scored one.

The series rolls out of a busy June and into an even busier July as the biggest events on the series schedule roll up next. The ‘Month of Money’ kicks off this weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway with the FVP Outlaws at Cedar Lake before rolling to the Brad Doty Classic at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park, Eldora Speedway for the Kings Royal, Lernerville Speedway for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup and Summer Nationals at Williams Grove.
