Stockton Marks Halfway Point of Outlaws West Coast Swing

Fans,
Fans,

STOCKTON, Calif. (March 17, 2015) – The World of Outlaws FVP Western Spring Shootout at the Stockton Dirt Track is expanding to two days this year, Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22.

This will be the third year of Outlaws competition at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds 3/8-mile oval.

Last year Joey Saldana qualified the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop 71M on the pole, led 20 laps of the feature and finished third.

Saldana comes into the Stockton doubleheader sixth in point standings, only six points out of fourth place. The Motter team led the point standings coming out of Las Vegas for two events before a Friday the 13th accident at Tulare, Calif., not of Saldana’s making, put him on the trailer after leading the first 12 laps.

“Our team is doing great,” said Saldana, “just the DNF at Tulare hurt us, but we will turn it around. I am confident of that.

“I grew up racing on the smaller tracks, and they are fun for me as a driver and great for the spectators, but one spin can set off a chain reaction that can affect several cars.

“We have a lot of racing left this season. We are barely out of the gate, and I am pumped up about our team and our chances of being right in the middle of the championship chase. Stockton is the half-way point of the West Coast swing. Our team has made some forward strides on set-ups for racing surfaces that challenged us in previous years. That gain is huge.

“We are looking forward to Stockton and the rest of the West Coast spring swing.”
