Sides Starting New Top-10 Streak After Nine-Race Streak Snapped in Sedalia

Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (May 8, 2017) – Jason Sides is starting a new streak after his nine-race top-10 streak was snapped last Friday because of a flat tire.

Sides entered the Sedalia Show-Me Showdown on Friday at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., riding his best World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series streak since capturing nine top 10s in a row in August and September of 2010.

He began the night qualifying third quickest overall before he placed third in a heat race after starting on the pole.

“My start in the heat race didn’t go as planned,” he said. “Joey (Saldana) was inching forward so I slowed down to make him slow down to get even. They had watered the track after the modified heats. On my start I got down too low and there was still some sloppiness. We spun the tires and didn’t get a good start.”

The result missed a lock-in position to the dash and lined Sides up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.

“We were really good early in the feature,” he said. “It seemed like when the racing line moved to the top it was dragging the left rear a lot getting into turns one and three. I think it smashed the air out of the left rear tire. It came in low and was completely chunked out all the way around the outside and inside of the left rear. It got really loose the last 10 or so laps.”

Sides was contending just outside the top five midway through the main event before he faded to a 13th-place result.

While the top-10 streak stopped at nine, Sides started another one on Saturday at 81 Speedway during the Kansas Outlaw Klassic. He qualified second quickest and won a heat race to make the dash. A sixth-place result in the dash lined Sides up on the outside of the third row in the main event.

“We started decent, but fell back late in the race,” he said. “We were a little tight in the dash so we put it back to how we’ve been having it and that was too much. We should have split the difference.”

Sides ended ninth, which marked his 12th top 10 of the season and his 10th in the last 11 races.

The Bull Ring Outlaw Blitz scheduled for last Wednesday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., was postponed to October.

Sides will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, with the World of Outlaws.
