Rain Postpones The Gettysburg Clash to Thursday, May 10

The World of Outlaws face the Pennsylvania Posse at Lincoln Speedway

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. — May 9, 2012 — Rain has plagued the World of Outlaws once again.

This time the showers on Wednesday delayed The Gettysburg Clash at Lincoln Speedway, which is the first showdown of the season between the Outlaws and the Pennsylvania Posse. The event is postponed until Thursday.

The front gate is scheduled to open at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 7 p.m. Tickets from Wednesday’s show are valid for Thursday.

“Unfortunately all it’s done since we’ve been home is rained,” World of Outlaws driver and Pennsylvania native Lucas Wolfe said. “It’s been pretty unwelcoming. There’s a good chance of great weather tomorrow and hopefully we’ll have a great event here at Lincoln Speedway.

“I’m very excited to get back here. I haven’t raced here as an Outlaw and I haven’t been here much in the last few years, so it’s going to be a good opportunity for us tomorrow night. It’ll be a great race.”

It’s the seventh time this season that weather has postponed or cancelled a World of Outlaws event. Wednesday’s showers forced the packed facility to wait another day in one of the fiercest rivalries in racing. It also deferred the first World of Outlaws event at Lincoln Speedway since 1998.

Rain hit the area as the 44 drivers were getting in their cars to fire engines around 5:45 p.m. A light mist turned into heavier rain and at 7:30 p.m. the show was postponed.

“We’ve been having weather like Seattle,” said World of Outlaws driver Cody Darrah, who hails from Red Lion, Pa. “It’s been traveling around with us I think on our tour. Luckily the weather for the rest of the weekend is looking good. Tomorrow we’ll be back here and hopefully put on a good show in Lincoln.”
