Jason Meyers had been close to winning the Trophy Cup a number of times over the last five seasons, including coming up just one position short on the track last season. On Saturday night he earned his second consecutive finish of fourth or better to wrap up the overall Trophy Cup title at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California, which earned him $15,000.

Meyers, who hails from Clovis, California, which is an hour north of Tulare, finished fourth on Saturday night, after finishing third on Friday night to earn the most event points, which were used to determine the overall winner of the 14th annual Trophy Cup. In the finale of the event which drew 84 entries, Meyers started 20th and steadily worked his way to the front of the field. To finish off the 2007 season, he won races on four consecutive weekends, including during the inaugural Outlaws World Finals for the World of Outlaws.

In the 40-lap A-Feature on Saturday night, Randy Hannagan, who earned 11 Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws this season, picked up the win, passing Stephen Allard with 12 laps remaining, to earn his second win of the season and first aboard a 360-spirnt car. He held off a spirited charge from Allard on the white flag lap to close out the winged sprint car season in California, taking home $3,000 in the process. Hannagan was also victorious this season at East Bay Raceway in Florida during the annual Winternationals in February in a 410-sprint car.

The California native who now calls Indiana home was behind the wheel of the No. 6X for Walt Branco for the two-day event at the high-banked 1/3-mile, where the World of Outlaws competed three times this season. The first of three visits for the series to Thunderbowl Raceway in 2008 will take place on February 29.

Joey Saldana who won the first night of Trophy Cup finished fourth on Saturday night in the 40-lap contest, after starting at the back of the field.

Also competing in the two-day event were fellow World of Outlaws drivers Paul McMahan and Jason Solwold.

The entire 24-car starting field for the Trophy Cup was inverted from points earned on Friday night and in preliminary action on Saturday night.

The Trophy Cup benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with a $35,000 check being presented to the organization on the front straightaway on Saturday night by race organizers.

The 30th Anniversary season for the World of Outlaws begins on February 8, 2008 with the 37th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
