Outlaws Set to Return to Dodge City for Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown

Concord, NC – October 13, 2017 – After taking a year absence from Dodge City Raceway Park in 2016, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series returns to the semi-banked 3/8th oval on Friday and Saturday October 27 and 28 with the running of the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown.

The Outlaws raced most recently at Dodge City in 2015, during the Series’ Summer swing through the Midwest when Jason Sides and Donny Schatz each took home hardware. Sides also won at Dodge City in 2011.

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series made their first appearance at Dodge City in 2004 and have competed at the historic racetrack every year since, excluding 2016. Outside of the aforementioned Sides and Schatz, the only other active touring drivers with a victory at Dodge City are Daryn Pittman, who has four wins to his credit, and Kraig Kinser, who won in 2012.

This year, the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown is the final event before the World of Outlaws World Finals in Charlotte, meaning battles atop the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series point standings will take center stage. Barring a major charge from Brad Sweet or David Gravel, Schatz remains on track to capture his ninth Series championship, but behind him are a pair of torrid battles in the Point Standings.

Daryn Pittman and Shane Stewart have been jockeying back and forth for the fourth position in the standings, separated by a mere 28 points. Additionally, World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year contender Brent Marks has caught fire recently and is closing in on Jason Sides for the final spot in the top ten. Marks, who will most likely not catch fellow Rookie Sheldon Haudenschild, sits 30 points behind Sides. Be sure to also catch the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series in action at the Lakeside Speedway Friday, October 20 and at the Salina Highbanks Speedway Saturday, October 21 on your way to the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown.
