Inside Line Promotions – WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – Joey Saldana and Daryn Pittman are two of the hottest drivers on the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.
They are also two of the four drivers in contention for the series championship midway through the season as the competition ventures to 34 Raceway this Friday for only the fourth-ever visit.
“It’s a good short track,” Saldana said. “The races we’ve had there it seemed to have a cushion on it and you could move around.”
Saldana won a World of Outlaws race at the 3/8-mile oval in 2009 and Pittman went to Victory Lane there several years ago.
“It’s a great facility and a great track,” he said. “I won there once in an open race. There were several Outlaw teams there. It was a really good race because there were a lot of good cars there. We were in lapped traffic and it made for good racing. It’s a cool track.”
Donny Schatz enters the event with a 27-point advantage over Pittman in the championship standings. Paul McMahan ranks third – 63 points out of the lead – with Saldana two points behind him.
“I think the biggest thing is the shows have been good,” said Saldana, who noted the strength of the crowd at 34 Raceway. “Fans want to see good races so I’d say that’s why they are there. The track is suited for good racing. It’s a cool, racy place.”

Check out the O’Reilly Auto Parts $5 off general admission ticket special. When fans purchase a general admission ticket at a participating O’Reilly Auto Parts store they receive $5 off (adult tickets are $35 or $30 at O’Reilly Auto Parts and child tickets are $15 or $10 at O’Reilly Auto Parts ). Children 5 and younger get into the race for free. Fans need to exchange their O’Reilly Auto Parts receipt for a ticket at the main grandstands booth on race day.
A pit/combo ticket is also available, which includes a reserved seat, a pit pass and a “Class of 2014” poster of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers. Adult pit/combo tickets are $38 and pit/combo tickets for children aged 0 to 12 are $25.
