After Mechanical Issues in Missouri, Brent Marks Rebounds for Top-Ten at 81 Speedway

By: Fully Injected Motorsports

WICHITA, KS (May 8, 2017) – After suffering from mechanical failure on Friday evening, May 5, at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri, Myerstown, Pennsylvania’s Brent Marks quickly regrouped and transformed disappointment into success, scoring the sixth top-ten finish of his 2017 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series rookie campaign by finishing tenth at the 81 Speedway near Wichita, Kansas, on Saturday, May 6. Marks started 14th on the feature grid, ultimately climbing four spots during the 30-lap program. It was a first ever appearance at 81 Speedway for the full-time, rookie traveler.

“Friday night was a little tough to swallow, but those things happen,” Brent Marks explained, who was scheduled to start 12th in Sedalia. “The pin that holds the gear onto the magneto broke inside the motor. Obviously, that wasn’t our intent, but we checked over everything and made the necessary changes and moved on. I can’t thank my crew enough for their hard work and dedication. They never let anything get to them. They bounce back every time. I’m proud to have these guys with me on the road.”

Brent Marks will continue the month of May with an upcoming weekend triple-header, visiting Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, for #LetsRaceTwo weekend on Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, followed by the rescheduled visit to Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, on Sunday, May 14. Eldora Speedway will host The Greatest Show On Dirt on six separate occasions in 2017, most notably during Kings Royal weekend in mid-July. Marks qualified for the 2016 edition of the Kings Royal, finishing 16th during the $50,000-to-win program.

“We’re really excited to get back to Eldora Speedway. The atmosphere is always unbelievable at that place,” Marks said, pilot of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19. “I think we have the potential to do a lot of great things this weekend. It’s our last little swing before we travel home to race in Central Pennsylvania. Things are really beginning to get exciting for us.”
