Big Races in California at Placerville and Calistoga on the World of Outlaws Schedule Next Week

Fans,
Fans,

PLACERVILLE, Calif. (April 1, 2015) – For the first time in 23 years, the World of Outlaws will return to Placerville Speedway for an event promoted by Outlaws campaigner Brad Sweet at his hometown track.

Despite years of experience, Joey Saldana, driver of the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop sprint car, has never competed on the Northern California quarter-mile bullring track.

“I think it’s exciting to go back to a track that might bring our sport new fans and give existing fans an opportunity to see racing at a track where Outlaws haven’t rolled a tire since 1992,” said Saldana. “I have heard seats are selling fast so we’re looking forward to a great crowd.”

Brad Sweet’s Placerville Outlaw Short Track Showdown is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8.

After the completion of that event, the Outlaws will head to the Calistoga (Calif.) Speedway half-mile for the Saturday-Sunday, April 11-12 Wine Country Outlaw Showdown.

For the first time, the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series will be co-sanctioning both nights of racing at Calistoga.  The Civil War 360 Sprint Car Series will be competing on Saturday and the Wingless Sprints will be on the schedule Sunday.

“This is a sprint car bonanza for fans,” said Saldana.  “This is a great format and should be a big hit.  I’m looking forward to getting back in the cockpit after the Easter break. I’ve never won at Calistoga so why not now?”

Saldana is currently seventh in World of Outlaws point standings, only 48 points out of the lead.
