Heavy rain that led World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series and Mississippi Thunder Speedway officials to cancel Friday’s portion of the Dairyland Showdown has increased intensity tonight, and after consulting with Precision Weather Service and local weather authorities a decision was made to cancel the remainder of the Dairyland Showdown ahead of any dangerous conditions and announce a new plan to race in the region later this season.
Following the huge Quad City 150 Aug. 24-26 at Davenport Speedway, the Series will return to Mississippi Thunder Speedway for back-to-back nights — Thursday, Aug. 31 for $10,000-to-win and Friday, Sept. 1 for $20,000-to-win. Then, the Outlaws will head to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN on Saturday, Sept. 2, for another $20,000-to-win event.
“The Dairyland Showdown is a fan-favorite event at a facility our competitors enjoy, as well,” said Series Director Steve Francis. “This heavy storm is just preventing us from being able to race this weekend, but fortunately working with everyone at Mississippi Thunder and at Deer Creek we are able to put together a new set of races leading into Labor Day that will be spectacular.”
If you bought a ticket in advance of Saturday’s Dairyland Showdown finale, your ticket will be refunded through MyRacePass.
Anyone with a three-day ticket or pit pass can use them on either night the Series returns to Mississippi Thunder on Labor Day weekend. If you’re unable to attend, you can mail the tickets in for a refund, postmarked no later than 30 days from the end of the event (June 6). The mailing address is 1140 72nd Avenue, Minnesota City, MN 55959.
The Most Powerful Late Models on the Planet travel to the Northeast for the first time in 2023 with stops at Marion Center Raceway in Marion Center, PA on Friday, May 19, before heading to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, PA on Saturday, May 20. Then, the Series returns to Stateline Speedway in Busti, NY on Monday, May 23.
