CONCORD, NC – Jan. 11, 2013 – The record-breaking 2013 World of Outlaws Late Model Series schedule continued its expansion Friday with the announcement of first-ever visits to Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn., and Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway.

Duck River is set to host the WoO LMS on Sun., March 24 – anchoring a tripleheader weekend that also includes events in Arkansas and Mississippi – while Fonda’s date on Wed., June 19, will kick off an early-summer swing through the Northeast for the national tour. Both tracks will present 50-lap A-Mains paying $10,000 to win.

The addition of the two shows pushes the 2013 WoO LMS schedule to 54 A-Mains at 41 tracks in 21 states and two Canadian provinces, putting the circuit in line to surpass its single-season record of 44 events.

Duck River’s March 24 program will mark the richest promotion in the short tenure of its new operators Bob and Cathy Harris, who purchased the quarter-mile oval in July 2012. The couple has invested over $100,000 in facility improvements since taking control of the speedway – and Bob Harris, a former dirt Late Model team owner, is anxious to show the fruits of his labor to a large group of traveling racers and fans.

“I’m real excited to bring the World of Outlaws to Duck River,” said Harris, who has overseen a flurry of construction and upgrades that includes new bathrooms, concession stands and guardrails and a fresh clay racing surface. “I think everybody will be real impressed with the facility and what we’ve done here, and we’re hoping this will be a starting point for a long relationship between Duck River and the World of Outlaws.”

Duck River Raceway Park, which is located about an hour’s drive south of Nashville, will complete a three-race barnstorming of the Southeast by the WoO LMS. The tour will also compete on Fri., March 22, at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., and Sat., March 23, at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Miss.

Fonda Speedway, meanwhile, will host the first World of Outlaws event in its long and storied history on June 19. Ric Lucia, who promotes the legendary half-mile oval on the banks of the Mohawk River, will pair the WoO LMS with a program for Fonda’s headline big-block Modified division, setting up a monster twinbill that could entice WoO LMS stars Tim McCreadie and Tim Fuller – two former big-block Modified regulars from Watertown, N.Y. – to pull double-duty.

“We’re looking forward to finally having a World of Outlaws event at Fonda,” said Lucia. “And I feel like if you’re gonna showcase a special group of cars to your fans, you might as well put your own best cars with them to give everybody a really great show. I think a doubleheader of World of Outlaws Late Models and big-block Modifieds on one of the fastest, most exciting tracks in the Northeast will be a show nobody will want to miss.”

The Fonda date will head a week-and-a-half-long trek across the Northeast for the WoO LMS, which also will race on June 20 at Brighton (Ont.) Speedway; June 23 at Cornwall (Ont.) Motor Speedway; June 25 at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park; and June 27-29 at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. (seventh annual Firecracker 100).

A busy month of February for the tour also includes the inaugural ‘Bubba Army Late Model Winter Nationals’ on Feb. 15-17 at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., and the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals presented by Summit Racing Equipment on Feb. 21-23 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla.
