World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at a Glance

EDMONTON, Alberta – Aug. 20, 2012 – The two hottest drivers on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series are atop the championship standings heading into the final trip of the season to Canada.

Donny Schatz, who has won four of the last seven points events, trails championship leader Craig Dollansky by only 20 points entering the Oil City Cup – Friday and Saturday at Castrol Raceway.

Six different drivers have won a World of Outlaws event at the 3/8-mile track, including Schatz. Joey Saldana and Jason Meyers each have a series-leading three victories at Castrol Raceway.

Schatz Magical in Front of Hometown Fans at Nodak Speedway

The Minot native records his fourth win in the last seven Outlaws points events

MINOT, N.D. — Aug. 19, 2012 — After arguably the loudest cheer he has heard all season, Donny Schatz had a rare – and brief – emotional moment in Victory Lane on Sunday.

In front of a packed facility in the town where he grew up, Schatz picked up his first career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victory in the Magic City Showdown Presented by Gerdau, Sleep Inn & Suites, Minot Visitors Bureau and Magic City Implement at Nodak Speedway.

“This is where it all started for me,” he said. “This is where I made my first laps in a car and my family is from. To be here a few times and come close to winning, tonight we get to taste that victory. It’s as special as the Knoxville Nationals. To hear the crowds’ reaction and to get that trophy in front of that grandstands means everything to me.”

MINOT, N.D. — Aug. 19, 2012 — Donny Schatz, who grew up in Minot, picked up his first career World of Outlaws at his home track in the Magic City Showdown at Nodak Speedway.

It was Schatz’s fourth Outlaws win in the last seven points races and moved him to only 20 points out of the championship lead.

Kasey Kahne Racing Teammates Ready for Oil City Cup

Saldana, Darrah have combined for four wins in last six Outlaws events at Castrol

EDMONTON, Alberta — Aug. 18, 2012 — It’s a long trip to Castrol Raceway, but one that Kasey Kahne Racing teammates Joey Saldana and Cody Darrah both look forward to.

The duo has combined to win four of the last six World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series events at the 3/8-mile track, which hosts the Outlaws on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24-25, for the Oil City Cup to conclude this season’s events in Canada.

“It was definitely a good stop we had there last year,” Darrah said. “We got our first Outlaws win with Kasey there.”

“Working off of Joey’s notes … that was probably our biggest success. To go off his feedback and to be able to pull a win off of it really shows how good Kasey Kahne Racing is there.”

Podium Perseverance at Grand Forks for Dollansky

Following a top-five on Tuesday, short-track action continued on Friday for the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they traveled north to River Cities Speedway. In ten previous appearances, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ has great familiarity with the high-banked bullring leading the World of Outlaws with three victories along with nine top-tens and seven top-fives including a third place finish earlier this season in June.
