With Epic Pass, Pittman Wins World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Season Opener

It was the second DIRTcar Nationals win in a row for the Kasey Kahne Racing with Mike Curb driver

BARBERVILLE, Fla. – Feb. 13, 2015 – Daryn Pittman took the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season opener Friday night with an epic last lap pass of the reigning series champion Donny Schatz.

Just a lap sooner the feature win was in Schatz’s sights as he approached the lapped car of Kraig Kinser. Schatz dove low in turns three and four to make the pass but was not able to make the line stick. As he exited the turn his Bad Boy Buggies car drifted up the track and over the cushion.

Kentucky Veteran Rebounds From Early-Season Struggles With $5,000 DIRTcar Victory

OCALA, Fla. – Feb. 13, 2015 – Turning around his sluggish start to the season, Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., topped a late duel with Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., during Friday’s DIRTcar UMP-sanctioned A-Main at Bubba Raceway Park to earn a $5,000 victory during the opening night of the fourth annual Bubba Army Winter Nationals.

Lanigan, the three-time and defending World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion, rallied after losing the lead to Richards on lap 20 of the 30-lapper and retook command when Richards struggled with traffic on lap 26. The 44-year-old Lanigan pulled away through the race’s final four laps, earning his seventh career victory at the 3/8-mile, egg-shaped oval.

BARBERVILLE, Fla. – Feb. 14, 2015 – Donny Schatz‘s win Saturday night was a lesson in perseverance as he and his team worked through a last minute engine change to claim the second World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series feature of 2015. Joining Schatz on the frontstretch on the fifth night of DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park were Danny Lasoski and Steve Kinser, who waged a prolonged battle with Joey Saldana to take third.
