WoO Late Model Series News & Notes: Lanigan Takes Another Shot At Firecracker 100 Glory; Richards Heads To Lernerville On High Note

SARVER, PA – June 21, 2011 –

HIS TURN?: Ask Darrell Lanigan if this will be the year that he finally breaks through to win the Firecracker 100 Presented by GottaRace.com at Lernerville Speedway after three consecutive runner-up finishes and he’ll just shrug his shoulders.
 The silence from Lanigan, 41, of Union, Ky., isn’t surprising. He’s not big on talking about himself in general, so discussing his prospects for victory in a race that has become a thorn in his side certainly doesn’t rank high on his priority list.

Schatz Continues To Lead Championship Standings, Kinser Still Fourth

The World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series made its annual trek to North Dakota this past weekend and staged the Duel of the Dakotas at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Donny Schatz and Steve Kinser continued their quest toward winning another WoO championship by each scoring a pair of solid finishes in the doubleheader. Schatz raced the TSR No. 15 STP/Armor All/Chevrolet J&J to a second-place finish in Friday’s 40-lap A-Feature and seventh on Saturday. The finishes allowed him to add to his lead in the 2011 WoO championship standings. Kinser finished fourth and third on consecutive nights, respectively, driving the TSR No. 11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/Chevrolet Maxim.

Elite Racing Steps up to the Table at Grand Forks

Long before a Sprint Car was ever dreamed of; the land surrounding River Cities Speedway called “les Grandes Fourches” and was a rendezvous point for trappers and traders. On Friday, when Elite Racing entered the gates at River Cities Speedway, they had an appointment with over 30 of the best sprint car drivers out there. After two nights of high speed racing rendezvous, Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team collected two finishes in the Top-6 and continues to make it a three-way battle for the championship.
