On Top of the World: Jason Meyers Sweeps World Finals to Claim World of Outlaws Championship

Concord, NC — Jason Meyers had been asked countless times over the last three weeks where he needed to finish and what he needed to do to wrap up the World of Outlaws title. He had a simple answer for that. Win. The native of Clovis, California did exactly that on Saturday, sweeping both ends of the Lowes Food World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks at The Dirt Track at Charlotte before a standing room only sellout crowd with all the action live on SPEED.

Meyers put his name in the records books as the first driver ever from the  state of California to win a World of Outlaws title and became just the eighth driver in the storied 30-plus year history of the series to be crowned champion. He had previously finished second in the series standings three times in his career, including in each of the last two years to Donny Schatz.

Dollansky & Schatz Open World Finals with Fast Time Honors

Concord, NC — Craig Dollansky and Donny Schatz opened the Fourth Annual Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks by setting fast time for the two rounds of time trials that were held on Thursday night at The Dirt Track at Charlotte with a stellar 56-car field on-hand.

Dollansky circled the high-banked four-tenths-mile in 12.538 seconds to best field for Friday’s session of qualifying, while Schatz turned a lap 12.699 seconds to take the top spot in the second round of qualifying for Saturday.

World of Outlaws drivers honored at banquet
2010 season celebrated with largest point fund in short track racing 

The ultra competitive 2010 season came to a close for the World of Outlaws on Sunday night with the series annual Awards Banquet at The Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, North Carolina, with the largest point fund in short track racing handed out, as well over a half-a-million dollars in cash and prizes was awarded to the 15 drivers that followed the series full-time.
