Concord, NC — Racing Community Remembers Car Owner David Helm

In a sport where standing out in a crowd is a way to get ahead, David Helm never sought the spotlight. Instead, one of the most humble men in sprint car racing became one of its most respected car owners.

Helm, who lost his battle with illness over the weekend, quietly became one of sprint car racing’s leaders. Running his No. 11H team out of Selma, Calif., Helm first raced regionally in California before eventually taking the team on the road with the World of Outlaws.

While the team had many victories, perhaps its most cherished win came just a week ago at Volusia Speedway Park when Kerry Madsen drove the Selma Shell Maxim to the checkered flag. Helm was in the hospital, but the news of his team’s victory lifted his spirits.

Kinser Takes to the Air on the Full Throttle Racing Show

Steve Kinser will join John Katich on the Full Throttle Racing Show tonight beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern. Kinser is gearing up to make a run at his 21st World of Outlaws title this season, as he embarks on the 36th Annual DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Mopar Speedshop, February 9-11 at Volusia Speedway Park.

Kinser, won at Volusia in 2005, when the series returned to the half-mile after a 20-plus year absence. That is one of his record 533 A-Feature triumphs with the series.

Edmonton, AB— August 29, 2009—After becoming the first driver this season to win both ends of a two-day event with the World of Outlaws, back in June at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas, Joey Saldana remained the only driver to accomplish this feat when he did it for the second time of the year on Saturday night, taking the checkered flag in the finale of the third annual Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
