Pevely, MO — Another sunny and warm day was in store for the finale of the Second Annual Ironman 55 at I-55 Raceway as fans packed the stands at the always racy 1/3-mile high-banked bullring for the longest, most grueling event of the season on the World of Outlaws trailer, with 55 laps awaiting. Sam Hafertepe Jr. opened the night by turning the fastest lap in time trials. Heat races went to Kraig Kinser, Jason Meyers and Jason Sides. Tim Shaffer won the dash to earn the pole position for the Ironman 55. He led early before an great battle with Hafertepe, that saw the pair trade slide jobs for four straight laps with Hafertepe leading at the line each time. Shaffer would then lead from the 13th lap until the 28th go-around when Jason Meyers got around him. Meyers would lead the rest of the way, with Lucas Wolfe using a monster slide job coming off turn four on the last lap to inch ahead, with Meyers winning a drag race down the front stretch to take the $20,000 top prize.
