Jason Meyers and Donny Schatz remained in the Top-Six of the National Speed Sport News Power Rankings this week. Meyers is fourth in the poll, which ranks 10 drivers from all forms of motorsports, with Schatz checking in sixth on the list.
Meyers, who has won twice this season with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, finished third last Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway in California, driving a midget for NHRA star Cruz Pedregon.
The native of Clovis, California is second in Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship points, aboard the GLR Investments KPC just two markers out of the lead, and is one of just two drivers that has four Top-Five finishes in the same number of starts with the series this season.
Schatz, the two-time defending Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion is third in World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship points, on the strength of four Top-10 finishes, including three runner-up performances, piloting the Armor All J&J for Tony Stewart Racing. He also opened the season with two wins during the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida with the All Star Circuit of Champions. He has been among the Top-10 in the Power Rankings all season.
In 2007, Schatz finished the year on top of the Power Rankings to earn the prestigious Economaki Champion of Champions Award from National Speed Sport News.
